"The first time my wife and I visited Christophe's, I left thinking that I had just finished the best meal of my life. We live about 400 miles west of Vergennes, but have altered the route of our annual trips to Maine in order to include Christophe's as a regular stop.
Worth considering is eating at the kitchen table - literally in the kitchen, within arm's reach of the chef. There is a small surcharge for the privilege and, while you sacrifice the dining room's atmosphere, you get a priceless view of how a world-class chef works. I was impressed by the level of calm and quiet efficiency in the preparation of these wonderful meals. Talking with Christophe afterwards, I commented on the lack of noise even with several people cooking in the tight confines of this kitchen. He said that he works to keep the peaceful aura, especially when the pressure is high.
We will continue returning to Christophe's for remarkable meals for years to come".

Winner: Christophe's on the Green in Vergennes, Vt.
To fully enjoy Vermont's bounty, you can't go wrong with the three-course prix fixe special at Christophe's on the Green. Basque native Chef Christophe Lissarrague labels his cuisine innovative country French, featuring local organic produce, natural meats, and fresh fish. Save room for the dessert sampler plate. Splurge on your choice of sweet treats--the ginger-infused crème brulee and the trio of petits pots de crème. But don't forget the hand-selected French cheese – it's also worth a taste. Continuing with the rustic French theme, the restaurant's walls feature plates, copper pots, and armoire doors from Christophe's grandmother's farmhouse.

Christophe's
ambiance is upscale, but low-key. Our tables are set with
white 100% cotton linen and Villeroy & Boch. The room
is a simple one, designed by Pierre Hitier, a French interior
designer who did such New York restaurants as Gascogne and
Chez Jacqueline.
